This page is meant to be a guide and outline to help you order the correct size garments and achieve your best personal fit. There is no substitution to a "live-fitting" and trying on each garment you are interested in. There is also no perfect formula that will ensure a perfect fit for each individual. As such, we try to be as understanding as possible and offer a very liberal return/exchange policy.

Please keep in mind that we produce handmade small batch items. There will be a natural variance in the sizes of "identical" garments due to the nature of being handmade, from different batches, and using materials sourced from different mills. This is part of the character of what makes handmade so wonderful and we are proud of our finished products. This means that the charts on this page represent an AVERAGE measurement, not an EXACT one..

These measurements and guides are for LC King garments as they are sold regardless of whether they are washed or RAW. RAW garments will shrink and the resulting measurements will be different than those below. Please review our GARMENT CARE information for more information about washing, shrinking, and caring for RAW garments.

WHAT SIZE AM I?

The first step in this process is to actually be sure of your own personal body measurements. Once you know your actual dimensions, you can then compare those with our garment dimensions and make a confident decision when purchasing. There are 2 ways to go about discovering your personal body measurements, and each can be valuable.

  1. Use a cloth measuring tape to physically measure your body. This may take the help of a good friend. Measure points can be different for men and women, but you should definitely know your waist, hips, shoulders, sleeves, inseam, and chest/bust dimensions.
  2. Measure the actual dimensions of your current garments which you feel are the "perfect fit". This can be valuable since it will already account for how much "buffer" space you like between your actual body measurement and the actual garment dimension...ie. how loose/tight you prefer your clothes to fit.

There are many resources throughout the internet to help you calculate your measurements as accurately as possible. This is the beginning of a successful personal fit system for you to apply when choosing your LC King garments.

NOTE - The surest way for you to purchase the wrong size LC King garment is to use the published dimensions on your current garment as a guide to choosing our clothing. For 100 years, LC King has believed in True-to-Size labeling. If the waist on a pair of jeans measures 34", then it is sold as a 34" waist jean. Many other major brands utilize "Vanity-Sizing" which will claim a dimension other than its actual measurement. A 34" waist jean very often has an actual waist size of 36" or even 38". Why?...to help us all feel better about our actual dimensions...and to purchase garments at the size we WISH we were instead of actually are. Be aware...be informed....and measure yourself accurately.

STANDARD CHORE COAT MEASUREMENTS

These measurements represent actual coat dimensions, not body fit recommendations. Please know your personal body measurements and apply them to these garment dimensions. There is no perfect formula to get your individual best fit and you need to take into account each dimension and how it will apply to your body type and desired style.

We find that our customers are usually looking for a chore coat to fit one of two ways:

STANDARD FIT - A looser fit that shows the coat as a workwear garment rather than a style piece.
A good starting point is to use the Pit to Pit measurement. If you double this number, you will have the general "barrel" or chest dimension of the coat. Add 5-6 inches to your actual chest/upper body measurements if you will wear this coat over a single layer or add 7-8 inches to your actual chest/upper body measurement if you will wear this coat over multiple layers (or just like a looser fit).

Example - Your personal chest measurement is 40" at its largest point. You intend to wear this coat over a single layer only...so add 6" to that measurement...for a total need of 46". Choose the coat with the closest chest measurement (P2Px2) without going under your dimension. In this case, a MEDIUM Chore Coat would give you a STANDARD fit. As each body type is different, please consider all of the coat measurements at that size and assess them for the best all-around personal fit. There is NO perfect formula that will work for everyone.

"WILLIAMSBURG" FIT - A slim fit that shows the coat as more of a style piece than a workwear garment. Often worn unbuttoned and over multiple shirt layers.
A good starting point is to use the Shoulder measurement. A well-fitting coat will align with the edges of your shoulders first and foremost, and button comfortably secondarily (opinion). Measure your shoulder width from top pit-to-pit in a straight line across your back. Add 1-1.5" inches to your actual shoulder measurements if you will wear this coat over a single layer or add 1.5-2" inches to your actual shoulder measurement if you will wear this coat over multiple layers.

Example - Your personal shoulder measurement is 19" at its largest point. You intend to wear this jacket over a single layer only...so add 1" to that measurement...for a total need of 20". Choose the coat with the closest shoulder measurement without going under your measurement. In this case, a MEDIUM Chore Coat would give you a "Williamsburg" fit. As each body type is different, please consider all of the coat measurements at that size and assess them for the best all-around personal fit. There is NO perfect formula that will work for everyone.

TALL SIZES
Some of our coats are available in TALL sizes. These garments will measure (2) inches longer in the back length, and (2) inches longer in the sleeve length from their regular variant.

CHORE COAT SHRINKAGE
All of our raw chore coats will shrink when washed. The exact amount of size reduction will vary depending on the specific fabric, batch, source, and your wash/dry choices. There is NO FORMULA as to shrinkage. Our in-house testing has shown that some fabrics like Brown Duck and Raw Indigo Denim may shrink 1/2 to 3/4 of a size if pushed to their maximum. Other fabrics like our Sanforized Selvedge or poly-mix Camo may shrink as little as 1/4 size when pushed to their maximum. Please read through our  GARMENT CARE information to formulate a plan on how you will manage the wash and shrink future of your LC King garments.

LINED BARN COAT MEASUREMENTS

These measurements represent actual coat dimensions, not body fit recommendations. Please know your personal body measurements and apply them to these garment dimensions. There is no perfect formula to get your individual best fit and you need to take into account each dimension and how it will apply to your body type and desired style.

Please note that the below measurements are exterior dimensions of the garment which is Blanket Lined. Please consider this while comparing your body measurements to the garment dimensions.

TALL SIZES
Some of our coats are available in TALL sizes. These garments will measure (2) inches longer in the back length, and (2) inches longer in the sleeve length from their regular variant.

BARN COAT SHRINKAGE
All of our barn coats have been prewashed. As such, they have been pre-shrunk and should see no significant size reduction through repeated wash cycles. The measurements above represent the final delivered dimensions.

JEANS MEASUREMENTS

The provided measurements for all of our jeans models represent actual dimensions, not body fit recommendations. Please know your personal body measurements and apply those to the provided garment dimensions. There is no perfect formula to get your individual best fit and you need to take into account each dimension and how it will apply to your body type and desired style.

The Jeans Dimension charts for each model are located on their product page. The last image in their "image gallery" is a chart of all available measurements. Please remember that all of our garments are handmade and small-batch, and as such there will be slight variations in size and fit. The Dimension charts provide an average measurement but are not a promise of the actual dimensions for each pair of jeans.

Many of our jeans are sold in their RAW state and as such may shrink when washed. The exact amount of size reduction will vary depending on the specific fabric, batch, source, and your wash/dry choices. There is NO FORMULA as to shrinkage. Shrinkage may occur throughout the garment and will not just affect the final waist size, but also the finished length. Our in-house testing has shown that some fabrics like Brown Duck and Raw Indigo Denim may shrink a full size (2") if pushed to their maximum. Other fabrics like our Sanforized Selvedge or poly-mix Camo may shrink as little as 1/4 size (1/2") when pushed to their maximum. Please read through our GARMENT CARE information to formulate a plan on how YOU will manage the wash and shrink future of your LC King garments.

LC King garments are eligible for refund or exchange as long as they remain in their original state and still have all tags attached. If you choose to wash a raw garment, It is no longer eligible for refund or exchange. Please make sure your are familiar with our entire RETURN AND EXCHANGE policy before purchasing or washing a garment.

OVERALLS AND COVERALLS

Overalls are sized based on your waist measurement. Measure the largest part of your waist or belly and order based on this measurement. If your waist measurement is an odd number, round up to the next size. If you will be wearing the overalls over any other clothing, take that into account when ordering. Your inseam measurement should be the same as you would order for pants.
Coveralls are sized based on your chest measurement. However, if your stomach or belly is larger than your chest, use the larger of your chest or belly dimension. If you will be wearing the coveralls over any other clothing, take that into account when ordering. Your inseam should be the same as you would order for pants.

If you are purchasing raw (unwashed) items, please note that these garments will shrink during washing. See our GARMENT CARE page for more information and take this into account as you are determining your "Best Fit" of overalls or coveralls.
